We Believe

The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living

God inspired people to write it, and every word of its 66 books, in their original form and language, was chosen by God, so it is unique.

The Bible is God’s love letter to ALL humanity and, because it is complete truth, it is the final authority on every issue it covers. It is the major way God chooses to communicate with us today, to show us what He is like and how He wants us to live

God is bigger, better and closer than we can imagine

There has always been one true God. Although we can’t get our minds around it God has always existed as three distinct and equal persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Bible shows us that by His words, God created everything we can see, and everything we can’t see, out of nothing.

The Bible uses lots of different names and descriptions of God to help us try to understand what He’s like.

God’s family and body on earth

When we choose to follow Jesus we are baptised into His body, the church, and His Spirit adopts us into God’s family.

The church in the Bible met to worship, learn by preaching and teaching, pray, spend time together, to use their gift and talents to build each other up and serve each other and to tell others the good news about Jesus, living out all He told them to do. We are committed to all this with the help of the Holy Spirit

Jesus is God showing us what He is like

Jesus, the Messiah, is God’s Son. He has always existed yet lived here on the earth in the first century AD.

While He lived here on earth, He was completely God and completely human at the same time. After living a perfect, sinless life, Jesus

We are made in God’s image and likeness

We are the pinnacle of God’s creation, the only part of creation made in His image. We are made to be like Him in character, with the moral ability to choose between right and wrong.

We are not animals but specially created as part of one race. But every one of us has inherited a disobedient heart from Adam, the first man. This disobedience, unless put right by Jesus, will keep us from having a right relationship with God.

We have a friendship with God and grow in that friendship through His grace and by faith

Our disobedience to God has eternally separated us from Him. No matter how hard we try we can never earn our way back into the Father’s presence.

Our ONLY hope is to trust in Jesus, God’s way of taking care of our disobedience and rebellion – God’s forgiveness is possible because of Jesus’ death on the cross. The Bible teaches that we need to have a complete change of mind, believe that what Jesus did He did for us and that we need His forgiveness, be baptised and receive His Holy Spirit. When we do this and follow Jesus we start the eternal and abundant life Jesus promises for all who believe in Him and follow Him.

To finish what he started the first time

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring this world to its appropriate end. Jesus has promised that He will return, personally and visibly in glory to this earth.

All the dead will be raised, and He will judge all of us rightly. There will be a new heaven and a new earth, and His people will receive new bodies. God will come and live on the earth – and His family will live with Him forever.

God created us to live forever

Heaven and hell are real places. Heaven is where God is and so is perfect and since none of us are perfect we were all heading for an eternity separated from God our Father.

That’s why the Father sent Jesus – to put things right so we can spend eternity with Him. What we choose about Jesus in the life determines where we spend eternity – heaven or hell.

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Billy Graham

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

C. S. Lewis
